Here’s a 90 second video on the Trans Pacific Partnership. The TPP will essentially fuck us all over if it’s passed. For example, it will:

1. Make it so that when we watch YouTube videos, we’ll be subject to a $10,000 fine for the temporary copy created by our computer. Yeah, SOPA and PIPA didn’t pass, but the TPP doesn’t care!

2. Outlaw generic medicines in certain countries. People then won’t be able to afford medicine.

3. Let entire countries be sued by corporate interests if they don’t bow to their will, causing environmental destruction, displacement of indigenous communities, inhumane working conditions, etc.

long-term relationships are tough. every passing moment that you spend in a committed relationship is a result of all the effort you’ve put into it and an active decision that, yes, this is worth it. even when that yes is almost (but not quite) outweighed by another voice inside of you saying “no”, it still shows some pretty intense dedication despite all the reasons why you may not want to be in a relationship with that person, or in a relationship at all.

as some of you know, i’ve been struggling with these concepts and am seeking relationship counseling. this may be a really personal thing to post online for all to see, but i think it’s important to not keep it a secret. i think it’s silly to pretend that everything is perfect in your life or better than it is. people at work ask me how my boyfriend is, and half the time i’ll tell them, “well, things are kind of rocky between the two of us right now.” i’m sure they would’ve been just fine if i told them that he was doing great, but i think saying something that isn’t representative of my real life contributes to a community that is already too sterile to talk about actual feelings. i’d rather talk to people about what’s really going on, even if sharing about my situation may be more involved. a lot of the time, i get people who open up and share about their struggles. it sometimes surprises me who wants to share and who doesn’t. i just think life is too short to bullshit around and not connect to people you could’ve connected to had you just been straight up about things.

anyway, this video… dan savage talks about how no two people are 100% compatible, that to be with somebody you have to pay “the price of admission.” watch it and you’ll understand. i think a lot of his advice can be applied to not only romance, but to friend and family relationships that may be struggling, as well.

After this interview, Deen announced she’s had diabetes for THREE YEARS. Oh, there’s more. She’s going to PROFIT off her wretchedness by partnering with a pharmaceutical company that makes diabetes drugs in a program where she’ll be making diabetes-friendly recipes, or should I say… normal food. Three years… I’m guessing that’s how long it took her to think of a plan to look “responsible” for her diabetes by hooking up with this horrible producer of drugs that give people tumors. Paula, you are truly a humanitarian.
